Short answers to what chefs ask most.

Getting started

What does Galley Wizard do?

You tell it the boat, the crew (diets and allergies) and the route. It plans every meal for the trip, makes one shopping list per port in supermarket order, shows where everything goes aboard, and gives you each day's cooking with prep times.

How do I plan my first trip?

Sign up with Google, then answer the wizard — one question per screen, all prefilled, about two minutes. You can change any answer later and re-plan.

Does it work without signal?

Yes, once the trip is on your phone. Install it (Add to Home Screen), open the trip once with signal, and the plan, recipes and ticks keep working at sea. Ticks sync when you're back online.

Menu, shopping & stowage

Can I change the menu?

Yes — while it's new or in review, move meals between days, swap a dish or take it out. When you're happy, approve it: that makes the shopping list and stowage plan final. You can reopen it before you leave.

What does “local & seasonal first” mean?

The menu leans towards produce that's in season where you shop, using official season calendars for Spain, France, the UK, New Zealand, Australia, Florida, California and Puerto Rico, and general climate calendars elsewhere. Each stop says which calendar it used.

How does the stock aboard work?

Ticking an item as bought adds it to what's aboard; ticking a meal as cooked takes its ingredients out. You can also log something spoiled or a fish you caught. It's there to warn you before you run short — you don't have to use it.

What about allergies and diets?

Add them per person in the crew step. Dishes with a crew member's allergen are not planned for them, vegans and vegetarians get their own plate when the main dish doesn't fit, and bread for the table counts only the people who eat it.

What if a leg is rough?

Mark the leg rough: dinners that keep and reheat are chosen, and up to two are cooked ahead in port so at sea you only warm them up.

Crew

How does my crew see the menu?

From Plan → Share the menu, send them the crew link. No app, no sign-up: they see today's meals (and any other day), tap 👍 or 👎 with a word if they like, and send you requests. You see it on each meal of your menu.

Can someone help with the shopping?

Yes — under Share → More, make a helper link. A helper signs in with Google once and can tick off shopping, tasks and cooked meals, but can't change the menu.

Account & price

What does it cost?

A short trip (up to 7 days, one leg) is free. For bigger trips: a Passage pass at €15 per trip, or a Season pass at €39 per year. While we test with real crews, everything is free.

What happens to my data?

Your trips are stored so they sync between your devices and your crew. We don't sell data or show ads. You can delete a trip any time; to delete your account, use the contact form.

Something's not working — how do I reach you?

Use the contact form (Contact, at the bottom of every page). Tell us what you did and what you expected; a screenshot helps.
